This is an ultra precise crimping tool, with cimping die plates that can be easily swapped for other sizes - this allows an upgrade path. For example, whilst initially you might only have a need to crimp very small crimp terminal pins, you might subsequently have a need to crimp larger crimp pins - in this scenario, you just need to purchase the required larger die plate set. It also means that if you buy the other two available die plate sets available, you then have the capability to crimp a broad range of pin types & sizes - without having to own numerous crimping tools (which would be costly and add clutter and extra weight to your tool case). The pad-13 comes with one die plate - the pad-13s, (size L) fitted which has die widths of 2.5mm, 2.8mm, 3.1mm, 3.4mm and 3.7mm). Made in Japan.
