Over the years, this hardy clump-forming perennial will spread out to fill its space, flowering every year with the minimum of fuss. Grow Centaurea in borders in full sun. Knapweed is drought tolerant once established and will happily tolerate almost any soil, except those that are excessively waterlogged. Knapweed plants require little maintenance. In autumn, remove the old foliage and faded centaurea flower stems, and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost around the base of the plant in spring. Position: Full Sun.
