Enjoy late summer colour which lasts into autumn with this neat and compact flowering shrub, Potentilla fruticose ‘Marian Red Robin’. From spring onwards this neat and compact rounded Shrubby Cinquefoil has a dense covering of fine, pinnate foliage which provides subtle textured greenery. Then, from mid-summer onwards, it shows off a fabulous display of red blooms which continue to appear all the way through to early autumn – not only do they provide easy colour but they’re nectar rich too, attracting bees and other pollinators to the garden. A fantastic, low-maintenance choice for integrating into a mixed border or shrubbery, tolerating most conditions and putting on a reliable display year after year with the minimum of fuss! Grow potentilla in any moderately fertile, well drained soil in full sun. Feed and water regularly until young potentilla plants are fully established. Shrubby Potentilla plants should be pruned after flowering. Remove any damaged or dead stems before cutting back the flowered stems to within 2.5cm (1") of the previous year’s growth.
