Pontederia cordata 'Alba' is a striking white-flowered form of the well-known Pickerel Weed, with a shorter and more compact growth habit. Its glossy, heart-shaped leaves form dense clumps that provide excellent structure and contrast in pond planting schemes. From summer into early autumn, neat upright spikes of small starry white flowers rise above the foliage, standing out beautifully against the lush green leaves. Hardy and easy to grow, this marginal aquatic perennial is an ideal choice for introducing texture, colour, and seasonal blooms to pond edges. Growing Instructions Plant in baskets at the edge of ponds, submerged to a maximum depth of 20cm (8") below the water surface. Choose a sunny position for best flowering. Pontederia requires little maintenance once established; simply cut back old foliage in autumn to keep the plant neat.
