'Rising damp'; describes the movement of water, often through small cracks in the building. By penetrating the internal surface the damp becomes a visible water mark rising up from the bottom of the wall. Soluble salts can then form a visible deposits on the interior surface, at this stage a permanent rising damp solution is required to solve the problem. The 10m² Membrane Kit is quick and easy to install. The High Density Polyethylene meshed membrane has a 3mm stud depth and is 1m in height, perfect for isolated rising or penetrating damp problems and covering persistent damp staining or salting once and for all. Damp Proofing Mesh Membrane (3mm Stud) A meshed membrane suitable for use as a damp-proofing membrane above the ground internally. With its 3mm stud, Platinum DM3 Damp Proofing Mesh Membrane is just 3.5mm in overall thickness, and is the preferred meshed membrane where space is of a premium. Its high quality meshed surface provides an excellent ‘key’ for lime mortars, renders, plasters or dabbed plasterboard. Damp Proofing Mesh Membrane is guaranteed against deterioration for 30 years, and has a life expectancy of at least 50 years. It is inert with high compressive loading stability. It is highly resistant to water, alkalies, saline solutions and organic acids, and it is not effected by minerals. It is also resistant to bacteria, fungi and other small organisms. Plaster Plugs: Above ground, Plaster Plugs can be used to secure meshed membranes. Use an 8mm SDS Drill Bit (supplied) to drill through membrane and substrate prior to hammering home fixing plug. Butyl Mastic: This is used with Damp Proofing Mesh Membrane. It is applied to the plug before fixing into the membrane, which serves to stop any ‘bridge’ happening between the damp or stained surface and the new surface.
