After the hanging of the basket you don’t need to check the water level with your fingers. This takes place via the small watering hole on the side of the pot that has a red plastic safety stop. Behind the internally laid red plastic bowl is a styrofoam piece, that shows when sufficient water has been added and thus avoids over-watering. Should the water level decrease over the following few days, the float goes down and opens the watering hole, allowing water to be added. This intelligent watering system also prevents so called "substrate flooding". There is enough space between the water surface and the soil, allowing sufficient air circulation thus preventing flooding.
