Product description
Sturdy bamboo-like stems produce masses of creamy flowers blushed with pink and accented by a striking dark eye, making Dendrobium 'Sunny Eyes' an eye-catching addition to a bright but indirectly lit office, conservatory or living room. This prolific orchid can bloom for up to ten weeks from spring to summer, offering a delightful fragrance throughout. Itโs not only visually appealing but also helps purify the air, removing harmful substances like xylene which is present in paint and varnishes. Suitable for both modern and traditional interiors, this long-lasting bloomer adds a stylish and elegant touch. Please note that the plant comes in a 12cm nursery pot as standard, unless a decorative pot cover is included as an option. If you are looking to purchase separately, a minimum of a 14cm pot cover will be required. Place this orchid in a bright spot but not in direct sun in a moderately warm room when in flower. Let the compost dry out slightly on the surface before watering with tepid soft water, or rain water, allowing any excess water to drain away and then remove - it's important that the plant is not left sitting in water. Once it has flowered you can trim off the spent flowers but leave the 'cane' stems as they may support some more flowers in the following years. Over time some of the older 'canes' may become a bit woody and shrivelled - these can be cut off at the base as long as there are three new healthy canes with leaves. To flower in subsequent years the plant will need cool temperatures and less water in the autumn and early winter for the buds to develop. Once the buds have formed, however, you can increase the watering and move it back to a warmer room to enjoy the floral display. Position: Bright, indirect light Soil: Specialist compost Rate of growth: Average Flowering period: February to June Hardiness: Frost tender
