If you don't have a tailor's tape, use a piece of string or ribbon to measure your dog's girth and then measure that against a standard tape measure or yard stick. 3. To put on the harness, drop it over your dog's head, secure the Velcro strap around his girth, and connect the safety snap. With practice, this can be done with one hand.
