Product description

Sedum, recently renamed Hylotelephium and commonly known as Stonecrop, is a fully hardy and very resilient clump-forming perennial which will delight you each year with its gorgeous flowers and fleshy pale green upright stems and foliage. This low-maintenance variety will put on a reliably good show from late summer through to autumn every year, despite drought conditions or poor soil. Sedum ‘Matrona’ is an award-winning variety, prized for its all-round excellent garden performance. Even before it flowers it adds excellent structure and colour to any planting space with its succulent, fleshy pale-green leaves. Come late summer it really starts to shine, with tightly-packed plate-like clusters of pink flowers nwhich last well into autumn, bringing bees and butterflies into the garden in their droves. Their autumn flowering period is always welcome, injecting fresh new colour into the garden as summer bedding displays fade away! Grow sedum in a sunny position in fertile, well-drained soil that has been enriched with well-rotted manure or garden compost. When growing sedum, water regularly during particularly hot dry periods and until the plants are fully established. Leave faded flowers in place; the dried Stonecrop seed heads make an attractive late summer feature. In autumn, cut back old stems and foliage and apply a mulch of well-rotted manure to the base. Sedum is drought tolerant once fully established. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten. Position: Full Sun Height: Up to 75cm when fully established Spread: Up to 30cm when fully established Supplied as 1 x Sedum (Hylotelephium) ‘Matrona’ plant in a 3.5 Litre Pot.
