Description Champions both the previous year and the following year, the 1984-85 season saw the Panathinaikos miss the Greek title by finishing 3 points behind the PAOK. Much attention was paid to the club's European campaign that led them to the semifinals of the Champions Cup. This season was also marked by the arrival from Panionios of a future club legend, Dimitris Saravakos. The talented creative striker had a great first season and finished second highest scorer in the league with 15 goals. He developed a great understanding in deeper positions with Juan Ramon Rocha and another newcomer in Velimir Zajec, then advanced to brilliantly combine with forward Charalampidis and Dimopoulos.
