Choose from Shiitake, Lion's Mane, White Oyster, Tarragon Oyster (rare British native) or Golden Enoki (Velvet Shank) using the variety selector. Refrigerate until ready to use, stores for up to 3 months.
- ✅ Complete Kit: Each kit contains 30 inoculated wooden spawn plugs (single variety), beeswax to seal the holes and cut ends of the log, and full step-by-step inoculation instructions. You supply the log, a drill and an 8mm drill bit. 30 plugs are enough for a one metre log of 15 to 20cm diameter.
- ✅ Simple to Do: Drill holes in a diamond pattern, hammer in the plugs, seal with melted beeswax and stand the log in a shaded, sheltered spot. Colonisation takes 12 to 18 months, after which the log will fruit naturally after rainfall with almost no ongoing care.
- ✅ Five Gourmet Varieties: Shiitake is the classic log mushroom with the heaviest crops. Lion's Mane produces striking white pom-pom clusters. White Oyster is reliable and prolific in the British climate. Tarragon Oyster is a rare UK native with a distinctive tarragon and aniseed aroma. Golden Enoki (Velvet Shank) fruits in late autumn and winter with warm golden caps and a rich, nutty flavour.
