Discover the joy of homegrown fruit with the Plum 'Rivers Early Prolific'. This exceptional variety reliably yields abundant crops of delicious, small, blue-black plums from as early as July. While perfect for enjoying fresh when fully ripe, these juicy fruits truly excel when used in the kitchen for creating flavourful pies, sauces, and preserves. This self-fertile plum is an excellent choice for any garden, even those without a dedicated pollination partner. This plum tree is supplied as a bare root tree, meaning it is dormant and ready for planting. It is grafted onto either VVA1 rootstock, reaching a semi-dwarf mature height of approximately 2.5m, or St. Julien rootstock, growing into a semi-vigorous tree with a mature height of up to 4.5m. Expect your first crops approximately two years after planting, with best yields typically seen around the fourth year. Cultivating your own fruit has never been easier! How to Grow Light: Plant in a location that receives full sun to partial shade. Temperature: Prefers a temperate climate. Protect young trees from harsh frosts. Watering: Water regularly, especially during dry spells, ensuring the soil remains consistently moist but not waterlogged. Feeding: Apply a balanced fertiliser in early spring. Consider a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost. Humidity: Average humidity is suitable. Ensure good air circulation around the tree.
