These are brand new easy to use 1/4" hexagonal shank drill-tap. Each tool produces a chamfered, threaded hole by both drilling and tapping the material. Can be used on plate, bar, tube, or box section. Cutting fluid or drill lubricant is recommended (the type of fluid depends on the material being machined). As with all machining, it is best to go slow, keep the tool cool, and use LOTS of lubricant. Application: Choose a clean dry surface and mark your intended spot. We recommend that you center punch the material to prevent 'wandering' however, it is not necessary with these drill taps. Apply lubricant, and with your drill tap located in your variable speed reversing drill - simply drill and tap your hole. When removing the tap from the hole - you MUST stay straight and level. If you move the drill off the original entry angle, the tap WILL bind and the tap WILL break before you even feel it. Also, failure to use lubricant and or drilling fast can radically reduce the life of the tool as a dull or burnt tip on the drill tap pretty much destroys the tool.
