As soon as you open your kit from DesignEtte, you will find the pattern leaflet for 'Rachel Cardigan' inside “BOOK 2 DesignEtte Denmark” placed on top of the yarn and accessories, which have all been carefully wrapped in black silk paper. In an effort to be more environmentally friendly we have removed labels from the balls of yarn. Instead there is label inside the top of the box where you will find all the information you will need about the shade and dye lot of the yarn included in your kit. The knitting skill level of this kit is designated as “Intermediate” - aimed at the average knitter and estimated to take approximately 50 hours to make. The Wheat Ear Cable is chosen for this cardigan as it is a dense cable worked with a loose tension which creates a smooth, easy movement in the knitted fabric. Wheat Ear Cable is made of a double cable, with the cable rows worked close together and with one additional stitch between the two cables. Honeycomb Pattern is used for the yoke, an eight row pattern repeat that is easy to memorise. It looks quite intricate, but is actually very simple. With a combination of knit and purl techniques, plus two simple cable patterns, you will enjoy creating this beautiful garment. Join all your seams using mattress stitch remembering that the fabric is flexible so be careful not to sew too tightly and to keep the stitching fairly loose.
