Bentonite Clay - 1K g Other Names: Montmorillonite Clay Description: Bentonite is a naturally occurring hydrated aluminum silicate; a highly absorbent clay composed of minerals such as iron, silica and aluminum. It is usually formed from volcanic ash that has aged over time and can vary in colour from dark grey to greenish grey. Usage: bentonite clay is used as a thickener, emulsion stabilizer and suspension agent for opaque products. It hydrates quickly and easily in water and gives structure to the water phase of your creams or liquid products and is particularly suitable for pigmented make-up such as BB creams, liquid foundation or tinted moisturisers. Usage quantities: 0.5-3% formulation tips: add to the water phase while stirring. Bentonite is heat stable, so you can heat the water to shorten the hydration time. Continue mixing until a smooth, thickened water phase has formed without lumps. The clay should be hydrated in pure water without additives.
