Product Description Oriental salad leaves mixed seed by Mr. Fothergill's. Tangy mix, easy to grow. So easy and quick to grow, even in containers. Use baby leaves for tangy salads and mature leaves for authentic stir-fries. Good source of vitamin C. Useful Information: Oriental vegetables; Salad bar; Suitable for contained gardens Sow and grow: Outdoors: sow thinly March-August, where they are to crop, 1.5 cm (1/2-inch) deep, directly into prepared, fertile, well-drained soil, which has been watered. For cut and come again baby leaves, allow 15 cm (6-inch) between rows, or sow thinly, directly into 25 cm (10-inch) pots. Early sowings may benefit from cloche protection. Seedlings usually appear in 7-14 days. No further thinning should be necessary. Keep moist. Regular sowings, made every two to three weeks, will ensure a continuous supply of leaves. Pick a few from each plant when approximately 10 cm (4-inch) high. They will regrow for up to 4 'cuts.' For mature leaves, allow 25 cm (10-inch) between rows and thin to 20 cm (8-inch) apart. Harvest whole plants from May. Generally, the larger the leaf, the hotter it will become. Hints and tips: Selected salad leaves: To grow as cut and come baby leaves, or as mature plants.
