Walt Disney Animation Studios’ new feature film “Moana” is about an adventurous teenager who, with help from demigod Maui, sails out on a daring mission to prove herself a master wayfinder and save her people. Music is a key factor throughout the movie with the songs being co-written by Lin-Manuel Miranda – the writer of smash hit Broadway musical Hamilton (Tony Award winner for best original score, Grammy Winner for best musical theatre album), – alongside Mark Mancina (The Lion King) and the renowned New Zealand songwriter Opetaia Foa'I from contemporary South Pacific band Te Vaka, who brings the influence of authentic South Pacific fusion music.
