Fluorescein (or uranine) is a reference tracer, it is used in hydrology for the localization of underground watercourses or leaks in pipes (wastewater and stormwater networks), measurement of river flow, location of marine currents, etc. In a concentrated version, it dilutes in water to obtain a ready-to-use mixture. It appears neon yellow in daylight and has a green fluorescence under UV light.
