• The wulff flies, tied on a size 10 hook are very durable and great when the water is quite fast. A high floater designed by Lee Wulff. The flies are really a good bulked up dry fly, traditional dry flies can be fragile on fast waters and rivers so the wulff flies fill that void. These flies are in a choice of colours, the grey wulff was the first one designed and many variations of the fly have materialised.
• The drake trout fly are most popular in early season. The term Drake originates from the feathers used in the wing of this fly. It is tied in a fan style.The grey drake is the female version where the green is the male version. Drakes are large insects and evidently taste really good to trout.
• The spent mayfly for trout fishing is a late spring early summer fly, when the adult dies after mating it lies on the water surface in the spent position, these are tied to imitate that stage and are very effective. The Mayfly is taken by trout very readily, watch the mayflies darting around the water looking for a mate, this is when the trout feed from the mayfly. The Spent mayfly will lie on the water surface and provide the perfect meal for the trout.
