Product description There are two varieties of sunflower seed for bird feeding: the larger striped sunflower seeds, and the smaller black sunflower seeds. While some aviary birds can eat both varieties, we would always recommend the smaller black seeds for wild birds due to their higher energy-rich oil content. Another benefit to using black sunflower seeds is that the hulls, or skins, are thinner than the larger striped variety, meaning birds visiting your garden will have no problem breaking through to the seeds inside.
