LOCTITE 243 - Medium strength thread lock for threaded metal fasteners. LOCTITE's medium strength thread lock is ideal for securing bolts, nuts and studs. It can also be used for all threaded metal connections that can be disassembled with a hand tool. It can be used for active and passive metals. The adhesive prevents the threaded connection from loosening on its own or from leaking due to shocks and vibrations. For reliable connections, the medium-strength thread lock creates substance-to-substance connections between close-fitting metal surfaces. The thread lock is highly resistant to temperature and oil and also tolerates minor contamination by industrial oils such as motor oils. To use, clean all surfaces with a cleaner and allow to dry. If necessary, apply activator and allow it to dry. To avoid clogging the nozzle with the cured product, do not allow the tip to touch metal surfaces during application. For through holes, apply several drops to the bolt at the point on which the nut will sit. For blind holes, apply several drops inside along the thread to the bottom of the hole. For sealing applications, apply adhesive 360° in a ring on the end of the male thread, leaving the first thread free. Spread the adhesive down to the bottom of the thread. For larger threads, adjust the quantity accordingly and also apply adhesive 360° in a ring on the internal thread. Assemble and tighten parts as usual.
