Product Description LOCTITE 2701 - High strength threadlocker for metal threaded joints. LOCTITE threadlocker is a low viscosity, high strength and ideal for chrome-plated surfaces. It can also be used for all threaded metal connections. The metal adhesive prevents the thread from loosening on its own, unwanted movement or corrosion in the thread. For reliable connections, the threadlocker is high-strength. It fluoresces under UV light and can thus be checked when applying the adhesive. Hand strength is achieved after only 10 minutes on steel, after 4 minutes on brass and after 25 minutes on stainless steel. The adhesive is vibration resistant and tolerates minor surface contamination from industrial oils such as motor oil. Clean all surfaces with a solvent-based cleaner and allow to dry. If metal surfaces are inactive or the cure rate is too slow, spray threads with a Loctite activator (7471, 7649). To avoid clogging the nozzle with cured product, do not allow the tip to touch metal surfaces during application. For screw holes, apply several drops to the bolt into which the nut will be inserted. For blind holes, apply several drops inside along the thread to the bottom of the hole. For sealing applications, apply adhesive 360° in a ring on the end of the external thread, leaving the internal thread free. Spread the adhesive down to the bottom of the thread. For larger threads, adjust the quantity accordingly and also apply adhesive 360° in a ring on the internal thread. Assemble and tighten parts as usual.
