Liriodendron Tulipifera makes a eye catching tree for the larger garden with its magnificent large glossy foliage. This Variety has distinctly shaped leaves that turn from green to a buttery shade of gold in a spectacular autumn display. As this tree matures it becomes decorated with large individual tulip shape, green-white summer flowers that are followed by cone-like fruits – although flowering may not occur for 10 years or more. This large tree requires plenty of space to be appreciated at its best. Height: 20m (65”). Spread: 10m (32”). Plant Liriodendron tulipifera in a rich, moist, well drained, neutral to slightly acid soil. Water regularly throughout the growing season until young Liriodendron trees are fully established. Tulip trees require little pruning other than to maintain their shape and remove damaged or crossing stems in late winter or early spring.
