About this item
- FLOATING SURFACE COVER - Water Lettuce sits on the surface with long trailing roots, shading the water below it and reducing the light that reaches algae growing beneath.
- NOT FROST HARDY - it will not survive a UK winter outdoors. Overwinter a few plants indoors in a lit container, or treat it as a seasonal summer plant for the pond.
- SHELTER AND SPAWNING COVER - the dangling root mass gives young fry somewhere to hide from adults, and is used as spawning cover by several coldwater pond fish.
- THIN IT BY HAND THROUGH THE SUMMER - it multiplies quickly across still water in warm weather, so lift out surplus rosettes rather than letting it cover the whole surface.
- NEVER RELEASE TO THE WILD - Pistia spreads quickly across open water. Compost any surplus plants and do not put them into a watercourse, a ditch or a natural pond.

I wrote to Bigamart's customer support and they accompanied the process of reshipping the item until it finally arrived. I felt a genuine effort to solve the problem till it was finally solved.

The package was here in Australia from England in a few days — so quick! Something was missing and they refunded it straight away. Pretty happy with these guys.
