DOES THE LIFESTRAW MISSION FILTER OUT SALT WATER, HEAVY METALS, CHEMICALS OR VIRUSES? The LifeStraw Mission is designed for hikers, campers, travellers and other outdoor enthusiasts. It will filter out 99.9999% of waterborne bacteria, 99.999% of waterborne viruses and 99.99% of waterborne protozoa. LifeStraw Mission does not remove chemicals or salt from salt water and should not be used with ocean water, sea water or brackish water. HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN THE LIFESTRAW MISSION HAS REACHED THE END OF ITS LIFE? The flow rate of your LifeStraw Mission will decrease, and then stop pulling water through once it reaches the end of its life. You can increase the lifespan by cleaning the LifeStraw Mission after each use (see cleaning instructions for pre-filter cleaning and backwashing the purification membrane).
