- RAISES SOIL PH — NEUTRALISES ACIDIC SOIL FOR BETTER PLANT GROWTH — most vegetables, lawns and flowering plants grow best in neutral to slightly alkaline soil (pH 6.5–7.0). Acidic soil locks up essential nutrients — particularly phosphorus, calcium and magnesium — making them unavailable to plant roots even when fertiliser is applied. Lime raises pH by neutralising excess acidity, unlocking nutrients and creating the conditions for healthy, productive plant growth.
- IDEAL FOR BRASSICAS, LAWNS AND VEGETABLE PLOTS — APPLY IN AUTUMN OR WINTER — lime works most effectively when applied in autumn or winter before the growing season. This gives it time to react with the soil and raise pH before you plant. Brassicas (cabbages, sprouts, kale, broccoli) are particularly sensitive to acidic soil and benefit most from liming. Also effective for lawns — reducing moss formation by raising pH above the level at which moss thrives.
- IMPROVES SOIL STRUCTURE — BREAKS UP CLAY AND IMPROVES DRAINAGE — in heavy clay soils, lime has a flocculating effect — it causes clay particles to clump together into larger aggregates, improving soil structure, aeration and drainage. The improvement in clay soils is a long-term benefit that builds season after season.
- ENHANCES EFFECTIVENESS OF OTHER FERTILISERS — if your soil pH is too low, the fertilisers you apply will not be properly available to your plants — they become locked up in chemical forms that roots cannot absorb. Raising pH with lime unlocks nutrients already in the soil and makes any additional fertiliser you apply far more effective. Correct soil pH before feeding for best results.
- EASY FINE GRANULE APPLICATION — 3.5KG TUB FOR MEDIUM GARDENS AND VEGETABLE PLOTS — fine granules spread evenly and integrate quickly into the soil surface. Sprinkle evenly over the area to be treated and mix well into the top layer. Water in if conditions are dry. Do not use on acid-loving plants (rhododendrons, azaleas, blueberries, heathers) — these require acidic soil and lime will damage them. Test soil pH before and after application for best results. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
