The sixth Relapse Deluxe 2CD Reissue deals with the second death album from 1988. The masterpiece combines thrash sounds by Metallica and Slayer, but complements this with unprecedented rough extremity, which is incredibly brutal and straightforward. The eight songs form the roots of the whole genre: Death Metal. And even though it was Death's second album, it immediately cemented the exceptional position of Chuck Schuldiner's band across the heavy metal scene. The bandleader Schuldiner had replaced his complete line-up for the recording of " Leprosy". The compositions are more mature, the technical, musical skill of Schuldiner significantly improved, he even ventured to a few, but very effective solos. The guitar sound, which is still shredding on " Scream Bloody Gore"; gave way to a more transparent, darker overall sound, which was also played by a much more powerful drums. The songs have an almost optimal mix of complexity and catchiness. The Relapse reissue was produced with great care, the entire album as well as the bonus tracks were mastered by Alan Douches (Mastodon, Nile, etc.). 2CD Deluxe version contains 50 minutes of previously unreleased demos, accompanied by a 24-page booklet with previously unpublished images of the band. In addition, Ian Christe (Sirius/XM) and Jeremy Wagner (Broken Hope) have written brand new liner notes. The Black Vinyl Edition offers the remastered core album with a download card for all the music including the 50 minute demos.
