This is not harmful and can be easily removed after a couple of uses or by cleaning with a lightweight machine oil, such as those used for shavers or sewing machines. While the Black Oxide coating may wear off with regular use, it will not flake off. Regular cleaning with oil will help maintain the tool's appearance and minimise wear and tear.
