Lea's history Lascaray Sa (Lea), founded in 1823, is one of the long-lived existing factories in Spain placed in Alava. During almost 200 years of history, Lea has diversified adapting itself to the technological progress and changes of the marketplace trends. In 1823, Juan Bernardo Lascaray arrived in Vitoria from Ciboure (France) and created a factory of small tallow candles in Vitoria's Prado district. With the second generation, thanks to Casimiro Lascaray, the new factory called Estrella Alavesa" was launched in 1855, where the production of candles and soaps continued. In 1885 FÃlix Lascaray succeeded his father in the company management with the goal of consolidate the industrial project, getting the profile that has still today. But it wanted strengthen into two production sectors: fractionation of fatty acids and soap production. In the early 20s, under the management of Lascaray family's fourth generation and thanks to the new production processes, Lea brand was born; production of quality shaving products, which in a few years became the Spanish point of reference for shaving creams and soaps. Recently, under the management of the family's fifth generation, Lea developed, produced and merchandized a full range of personal care products and cosmetics for men, women and children. Today, Lascaray Sa (Lea), under the protection of the family's sixth generation who has started the business, has become a point of reference for the European marketplace, both for classical shaving and for beard care; and cosmetics too, with a strong presence on the internal and external marketplace.
