Last Light [1993] [DVD]

Prison drama directed by and starring Kiefer Sutherland as Denver Bayliss, a persistent re-offender who has been locked up for two murders - one of his victims was a prison guard. The authorities have thrown away the key, but this is not enough punishment for the brutal cell block lieutenant who consistently targets Denver for violent physical abuse. In this environment and against all odds, Denver develops a mutually respecting friendship with one guard, Fred Whitmore (Forest Whitaker) who refuses to participate in the beatings.
