Product description
Thermawall TW50 Thermawall TW50 insulation board is a high performance insulation with a thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/mK. High performance means it's much thinner than other materials like polystyrene to give the same amount of insulation. For example, this 50mm Kingspan PIR insulation product is equivalent insulation to almost 100mm of polystyrene or 100mm thick of mineral wool/ fibreglass Although this product is called Thermawall, itโs exactly the same material, density, compressive stress and insulation properties as Kingspan Thermafloor and Kingspan Thermapitch. It can also be used for floor, wall and roof insulation. Walls can be timber framed construction or this product can be used inside masonry cavity wall construction as a partial cavity fill. It can also be applied below suspended timber floors between the floor joists. This product is also ideal for insulating sloping ceilings, below pitched roofs. Insulating Properties Thermal conductivity is a measure of how difficult it is for heat to travel through the insulation, called lamba value measure in W/mK. The lower this number the better it is at insulation. The thermal conductivity figure is used along with the thickness of the insulation to calculate the R value (thermal resistance) which is used in U-value calculations for building regulation approval. R-value of the insulation calculated using thickness in metres divided by the thermal conductivity, e.g. 50mm insulation is 0.05m / 0.022 = 2.27 R-Value. U-Value is the universe of R-value e.g 1 / 2.27 = 0.44. Current building regulation U-Value for walls is 0.18W/m2K and roof is 0.11 W/m2K (Feb24). Product Highlights High performance thermoset polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation - thermal conductivity 0.022 W/mK. Clear cavity is maintained - resists moisture penetration Low emissivity foil facings significantly increase the thermal resistance of the cavity. Lightweight insulation that is easy to cut, handle and install compared to some other commonly used insulants TW50 is faced on both sides with a low emissivity composite foil. Low emissivity helps this insulation to reflect heat inwards. Technical specifications Dimensions - Handy sized 450 x 1200mm sheets, 0.54square metres per sheet. weight - 1.75Kg/m2 Reaction to fire - Euroclass rating of F, non fire retardant material. Usually recommended to be concealed within construction, beneath flooring or behind plasterboard linings. Compressive stress - relatively high at 140Kpa 10% compression. This is approx. 1.4Kg/cm2. Certification - BBA approved. Suitable for building regulations compliance. Installation - can be sawn to size or cut with a sharp blade
