The Kähler Design brand goes back to the founding of a ceramic workshop (in 1839) on the Danish island of Seeland by Hermann-Joachim Kähler. From 1893, the factory became known throughout Denmark through the works of artist Svend Hammershøi. After several difficult years, the once proud workshop had to be closed in 1974.
