K2AQUA Large Bulb Crinum Thaianum Live Aquarium Plant Bulb Long Flowing Leaves Easy Care Background Feature Freshwater Tropical Tank Low Light
About this item
- LONG, FLOWING GREEN LEAVES CREATE A DRAMATIC BACKGROUND DISPLAY: Crinum Thaianum produces elegant, ribbon-like leaves that sway gently in the current, making it an excellent background or feature plant for larger freshwater aquariums. 1 Large bulb (with or without leaves, depending on availability).
- GROWS FROM A BULB โ PLANT WITH BULB PARTIALLY ABOVE SUBSTRATE: To plant it push the bulb gently into the substrate in your aquarium, with the bottom two thirds of the bulb in the substrate, and the top third sticking out.
- THRIVES IN LOW TO MODERATE LIGHT โ CO2 IS OPTIONAL BUT BENEFICIAL: Crinum requires slightly higher light levels and does not need COโ, though it will benefit from its addition. Crinum thaianum is a heavy root feeder and should be grown in a nutrient-rich substrate. Compared to other species in the genus Crinum, it has a smaller bulb.
- IDEAL FOR COMMUNITY TANKS โ SAFE AND FUNCTIONAL: The broad leaves provide shelter for fish while helping to stabilise tank conditions by slowly absorbing nutrients and supporting beneficial bacteria on the surface.
- HARDY AND SLOW GROWING โ LOW MAINTENANCE CENTREPIECE PLANT: Known for its resilience, Crinum Thaianum is perfect for aquarists seeking a bold, undemanding plant that requires little upkeep and maintains a consistent, natural look.
Product description
Listing is for LARGE bulb (with or without leaves, depending on availability). Crinum thaianum, also known as the Thai Onion Plant, is a striking and hardy freshwater bulb plant featuring long, flowing green leaves that can grow over 50 cm in length. Its graceful, ribbon-like foliage makes it an excellent centrepiece or background plant in larger aquariums, where it adds elegant movement and vertical contrast. This plant grows from a bulb and should be partially buried in the substrate, allowing the top of the bulb to remain exposed to avoid rot. It is a strong root feeder, best planted in nutrient-rich substrate or supplemented with root tabs. Crinum thaianum is adaptable to a wide range of water parameters and does well in low to moderate light. While it doesnโt require COโ, additional COโ and fertilisers will promote stronger growth and brighter leaf colour. Its hardiness and tolerance for varying conditions make it ideal for beginners and experienced aquarists alike. It is also completely fish safe, offering both visual appeal and gentle shelter in community tanks.
