Product description
This new recording from St Paul’s Cathedral Choir celebrates 500 years of best-loved cathedral music on one album, from Tallis to Rutter, with Handel, Stanford, Mendelssohn, Parry and more between. On four tracks, St Paul’s Cathedral choir is augmented by choristers from no fewer than 50 cathedrals across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, all brought together and recorded in the astonishing acoustics of St Paul’s Cathedral on 3rd January 2017. Soloists include Aled Jones singing a special arrangement by John Rutter of A Gaelic Blessing, among his most popular works. St Paul’s 2016 Head Chorister Nathaniel Morley sings ‘O for the Wings of a Dove’ in this new recording of a work that is reputed to have sold over 5 million copies in a recording by chorister Ernest Lough in the early 20th century. Every copy supports the ‘Diamond Fund for Choristers’ in its goal to raise £10M to support cathedral music and secure the nation’s musical legacy.
