This large Japanese Anemone makes a big impression in bed and borders with its tall stems topped with stunning white semi-double flowers. Anemone x hybrida ‘Whirlwind’ can tolerate partial or dappled dahe too, so it’s perfect for highlighting those duller parts of the garden. Tall, slender stems yet upright stems sway in the breeze creating an airy effect and gentle movement in borders. This low maintenance perennial takes a little while to establish, but once it’s settled in it will establish and form beautiful natural drifts. Plant your Anemone plants out on moist, fertile, well drained soil in sun or dappled shade. Plants are generally unfussy and, once established, will last for years, although try to avoid excessive winter wet. Cut back anemone flowers as they fade. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of anemones in spring or autumn. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.
