The semi-track Sd.Kfz 10 Demag D7 was employed by German troops in large numbers during World War II and has seen its presence on all major fronts from the invasion of Poland, to North Africa, to Russia. It was created with the aim of being an effective artillery towing, in every situation and environmental context, for anti-aircraft and anti-tank guns. It could carry eight fully equipped soldiers. The 4.2-litre Maybach 6-cylinder engine was positioned at the front and could deliver 99 hp allowing the half-track vehicle to arrive on the road at a maximum speed of 65 km/h. The Demag D7 proved to be extremely flexible and reliable and was produced in numerous models and versions. Its chassis was also used to implement modifications made directly by the field workshops in order to have characteristics more suited to the specifics of the theater in which the vehicle was used. The lightweight howitzer Le. IG 18 was designed to provide support of artillery fire within infantry companies.
