Product Description Over the course of the war, the need to build anti-aircraft self-propelled guns became evident that could protect the troops in open ground or in motion against low-altitude air attacks. Based on the hull of the medium tank Panzer IV, the Flakpanzer IV Whirlwind was built with a 20 mm Flak 38 quadruple armament. At the end of 1944, the whirlwind was joined by the more powerful east wind, which was equipped with a 37 mm Flak 43 flyer defense. The anti-aircraft weapons, protected by a thick and distinctive shield mounted on a hexagonal tower with open sky, have a longer range and can also be used effectively against ground targets to support troops in the field.
