The Jaguar ground attack aircraft, born in the 1960s based on a collaboration project between the French and British aviation industry, was employed by the Royal Air Force until the late mid-2000s, demonstrating extraordinary longevity and operational efficiency. Thanks to its two turbo-jet engines, it was able to reach and exceed a speed of Mach 1.6. It has been used, completing numerous missions, in operational areas with a high level of complexity, including the Balkans and Iraq. In particular, the single-seater “all-weather” Jaguar Gr. 3 version has been definitely updated in its avionics and has been equipped with terrain mapping and GPS targeting systems to optimise the role of ground attack aircraft.
