Product Description USES FOR IRON SULPHATE It is used as a lawn conditioner and is the active substance in many commercial moss killers 1 Kg of Iron sulphate will treat 500 sq metres using a solution of between 1% (10g/L of water) and 3% (20g/L of water) - (apply at a rate of 5 sq m per litre) This will lead to greening up of grass and hardening of lawn against disease Use of the product at dilution rates higher than 30g/L could result in undesired blackening of moss Application of ferrous sulphate to hard surfaces such as concrete should be avoided as rust-like staining will occur No more than 3 applications per year should be carried out on the lawn Industrially ferrous sulfate is mainly used as a precursor to other iron compounds It is a reducing agent mostly for the reduction of chromate in cement Used in the manufacture of inks It is used a mordant for wool dyeing Ferrous sulphate can also be used to stain concrete and some limestones and sandstones a yellowish rust color Woodworkers use ferrous sulfate solutions to color maple wood a silvery hue In horticulture it is used for treating iron chlorosis (yellowing of folliage caused by iron deficiency) Although not as rapid-acting as iron chelate its effects are longer-lasting It can be mixed with compost and dug into to the soil to create a store which can last for years N B This product is not for human or animal consumption This is a pure chemical and is not HSE approved for herbicidal applications It is not sold for this purpose Directions Mix 10g/L to 20g/L of water for application, apply at a rate of 5 sq m per litre, do not exceed 3 applications per year, avoid application on hard surfaces, not for human or animal consumption, harmful if swallowed or in contact with skin or eyes. Safety Warning Harmful if swallowed. IF SWALLOWED: Call doctor if you feel unwell and rinse mouth. Causes skin irritation. IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of soap and water. Causes serious eye irritation. IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Wear protective gloves / protective clothing / eye protection / face protection.
