Nutritional Yeast comes from a single celled organism called Saccharomyces cerevisiae; usually grown on Molasses, our yeast flakes are grown on organic wheat to make the final product completely organic. After the yeast has grown, it is harvested from the wheat, washed and dried. The drying aspect of the process effectively deactivates, or stops, the yeast from growing any further. Unlike brewers yeast which is active, Nutritional Yeast Flakes are deactivated so they can be consumed.
