This elegant climbing Hydrangea bears lacy white blooms in summer that contrast perfectly against the dark green foliage. In Autumn the dark green foliage will turn to a buttery shade of yellow, brightening up any dark parts of your garden. Can be slow to get going, however once established this will quickly scale walls and fences. Hydrangea petiolaris thrives in a sunny, semi shaded or full shade position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any rich fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Grow Hydrangea petiolaris against walls and fences where it will cling and support itself via aerial roots. Water regularly until plants are fully established. The climbing hydrangea should be pruned immediately after flowering, reducing the stems to restrict their growth to the available space and to improve the shape of the plant.
