Enhance your Duchess of Sutherland locomotive with a selection of Hornby™s meticulously crafted LMS coaches.HistoryThe ˜Princess Coronations™, also known as ˜Duchesses™, were the ultimate LMS express locomotives, built to the design of William Stanier, 38 of which entered service; the first in June 1937, the last not until May 1948 under the auspices of British Railways. Twenty-four of the class carried streamlining, which was removed from 1946 onward, but 6233 wasn™t one of them, having been built in conventional form and entering service in July 1938. It was fitted with a double chimney in 1941 and in 1946 received smoke deflectors, becoming BR 46233 in 1948 and withdrawn in February 1964. It is preserved at the Midland Railway-Butterley and has been a regular operator on the main line.
