Many new artist pigments have been used which have been tested according to strict quality requirements over a longer period of time for suitability in terms of storage stability, fineness assortment homogeneity and above all light resistance. The Horadam Aquarell colours impress with their unsurpassed solubility even when the colours are dried on the palette and on the other hand with optimal colour release for an always controllable colour gradient. Highest light fastness thanks to high-quality artist pigments. The light fastness is an objective quality feature that not only depends on the pigment alone, but is determined by the overall formula. Therefore, Schmincke does not adopt the light fastness specifications of the pigment suppliers, but the overall formula of each individual colour tone as an original spread in elaborate tests, e.g. on the company roof and/or by a xenon test. These intensive tests to determine the light resistance of Horadam Aquarell colours are necessary for the correct strict classification in our 5-star system based on the 'wool scale'. Nevertheless, watercolour pictures should not be exposed to direct sunlight in the long term due to the mostly fine thin and therefore particularly light-sensitive paint application.
