Hotel chain owner Meredith Sanders (Melissa Gilbert) makes a shocking discovery when she returns to the English village where she grew up. After visiting her ailing friend, Agnes, Meredith discovers that her mother, whom she believed long dead, is in fact still alive. The inevitable confrontation between mother and daughter proves to be a heart-wrenching one, but Meredith comes to look upon it as an opportunity for a new start in her life. She is supported through this difficult period by Lucas, a man who has known more than his own fair share of loss.
