Henge, the London based four-piece, have been frying brains up and down the country for 18 months now. Combining Butthole Surfers mayhem and Jesus Lizard precession, this is pure psychedelic noise rock. Their self-titled debut album comes across like a lost Amrep record, psychedelic in its truest sense of altering perception and pushing the listener to the inner depths of the subconciousness. It's acid fried, heavy and slow, something which Trance Syndicate head King Coffey would have snapped up for his label. Henge is a dense, spiralling and succinct statement. Pulsating and throbbing; the guitar being a washing, white noise counterpoint to the pummelling rhythm section with the vocals pushing everything into the red. If you can imagine the rush of an acid trip combined with a collapsing sun you'll be somewhere close to the intensity of Henge.
