This amplifier has been designed and manufactured in the UK and China. We have worked with our factory in China to build a high quality headphone amplifier that doesn't just use the cheapest components we could find. Once it arrives in the UK it goes through the final stages of construction as well as a series of quality checks. Optimal setup. We recommend this setup for best results but the unit will work with a number of other combinations. Choose what works for you. In our experience, with the JJ tubes it is much easier to distort the tracks heavily when playing with the volume on the amp/play device maxed out. It makes it quite fat and bassy. This is only when everything is maxed out and rolls off slightly. If you want the option for more distortion, these tubes might be the best choice. EHX sound a bit smoother and warmer.
