Our hearth mat is only 1mm thick and made of fiberglass with silicone coating on both sides, making it lightweight and slim. On smooth floors, this design may not provide sufficient grip. If you expect frequent foot traffic on the mat, we recommend placing a non-slip rug pad underneath for added stability. About size selection, we recommend choosing a fire place mat that is larger than your fireplace opening. For example, a 36-inch fireplace can pair with a 42-inch or 48-inch mat. The exact size depends on your fireplace dimensions and the available floor space in front of it. Outdoor grill mat and frie pit mat are typically 0.5mm thick, while our indoor fireplace mats fireproof are 1mm thick. Indoor mats require only basic cleaning with a broom or a damp cloth. Outdoor mats, thanks to their water- and oil-resistant design, can be rinsed with a hose or washed with soapy water. Please note that prolonged UV exposure may accelerate aging of the silicone coating on outdoor mats, potentially causing brittleness or cracking. As a result, the indoor mat offers better durability under normal use conditions. During the off-season when not in use, we recommend cleaning the fieproof mat thoroughly with soapy water and a pressure washer, then allowing it to air dry completely before folding it for storage. This helps keep the mat clean and extends its service life.
