- The Model-P2 cage is similar to our Model-C or C2 cage, except it is fully enclosed with a lockable acrylic lid and a permanent bottom. The lid is easily opened and locked, and no disposable bottom is required. For easy cleaning, a side wall can be removed, allowing you to effortlessly dump dirty bedding.
- If you prefer a cage with a fixed lid and bottom, the Model-P2 is the perfect choice. It starts with a 2x1 ft base and one level, but you can expand the base through DIY modifications or add additional levels to make the cage taller—all while keeping the fixed lid and bottom. - The base Model-P2 cage is ideal for new owners starting with one guinea pig and planning to add more space later. It’s also great for situations where a guinea pig needs isolation—whether it’s bullying others, being bullied, or requiring separation due to health conditions like pregnancy.
- The base Model-P cage is also convenient as a temporary cage. Use it to house your guinea pigs during cage cleaning or to transport them for outdoor trips, such as vet visits, park outings, or backyard playtime.
- Beyond guinea pigs, the Model-P2 cage is also suitable for large hamsters, such as Syrian hamsters, as well as regular-sized hamsters. With added levels and floors, it can also accommodate climbing animals like chinchillas. However, for very small pets—such as dwarf hamsters, mice, rats, or gerbils—we recommend our Model-P3 cages, which have smaller ventilation holes to prevent escapes.
- In addition to DIY expansions, you can connect multiple Model-P2 cages using our cage connectors to create a larger living area for your guinea pigs. Connected cages provide extra space and encourage exploration, allowing your pets to move around and enjoy their environment.
- While the cage is beautifully designed, note that its 2 ft by 1 ft size is small, and your guinea pig may need more space.
