Product description

Harvest a rewarding crop of delicious Gooseberries in a variety of colours, all with their unique flavours. This collection of three bare root plants includes three popular, self-fertile Gooseberry varieties, ‘Invicta’, Captivator’ and ‘Hinnonmaki Yellow’, to provide you with a bumper harvest which you can use to eat fresh, make into puddings, desserts and jams. Collection comprises: Gooseberry 'Captivator' – deep pink fruits which ripen to a burgundy colour. Gooseberry 'Hinnonmaki Yellow' – Yellow fruits with a hint of apricot flavour. Gooseberry 'Invicta' – Green fruit, one of the heaviest cropping gooseberries available. Water well for the first year until plants are fully established. When growing gooseberries, the soil must not dry out during hot periods, particularly while the fruit is being formed. Remove any suckers from the base of the plant as they arise. Netting the bushes will help to protect the currants from birds. Harvest some gooseberries for cooking and freezing in May, leaving the remaining fruit to ripen fully in June for eating fresh from the bush. Prune gooseberry plants in winter. Remove dead, damaged and crossing stems, before thinning the remaining stems to create an upright open bush. Shorten the remaining stems by half. In spring apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil. Position: Full Sun/Partial Shade Height: Up to 1.2m when fully established Spread: Up to 1.2m when fully established Supplied as 1 x Gooseberry Collection 9 bare root plants Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary results. Image may be included for illustration of supply but can vary due to seasonality changes (e.g. deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).

The package was here in Australia from England in a few days — so quick! Something was missing and they refunded it straight away. Pretty happy with these guys.
