Known as far back as ancient Egypt and perfected by Murano's talented artisans in the middle ages, Millefiori technique is a labor-intensive manual glass-making process. The artisans first create thin rods with a special design inside, then cut still hot glass rods into tiny mosaic pieces, and finally assemble those pieces into patterns and fuse them together in special furnaces.
